This Ilorin panegyric is not very correct especially at the ending. Even though, the whole is a mixture of a bit from the old original and the new one.
The ending says Àfònjá l’ọmọ tí ò gbọ́ran tí wọ́n kọjú ẹ sí ogun… That’s correct.
But it continues to say, ‘Ogun náà ni afoja lọ tí kò padà wálé mọ, ‘tó fi lọọ tẹ ìlú Ìlọrin (WRONG)
Aláàfin of Oyo ‘Oba Aole’ truly sent Àfònjá who was already the 4th Baale in Ilorin and the 6th Aare Ọ̀nà-Kakaǹfo of the whole of the Yorùbá land toe war. He refused to go back to The Aláàfin to give report in an act of rebellion (that’s what it means by ‘ogun náà ni àfònjá lọ tí kò padà wálé mo’)
It was then that he was also killed by Salih Janta who then took over ILORIN since then.
Therefore Ilorin has been in existence Àfònjá Himself.
