OUR FOUNDER

OldNaija was founded in 2014 by Teslim Opemipo Omipidan, an award-winning Nigerian poet, historian, journalist and blogger.
“Around the age of 10, Mr Omipidan started a makeshift book of his own. He cut out history-related photographs from newspapers and glued them to a notebook, then researched and wrote stories about each image.”
“By the time he was 17, he was keen to share with the world the information he amassed. That’s how the idea of a blog started, he said. I started it in 2014.”
– Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani | BBC News
OUR EXHIBITION PROJECT
In 2019, OldNaija organized a historical photo exhibition at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) – a move inspired by our commitment to document and promote the history and cultures of Nigeria. Read more about our exhibition project in The Guardian Newspaper.
OldNaija has been featured on
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
– George Santayana
