Below is the list of the Past Secretary-Generals of The Organization of African Unity (OAU)
1. Diallo Telli of Guinea (1963-1972)
2. Ezo Ekangaki of Cameroon (1972-1974)
3. William Eketi Mbomoua of Cameroon (1974-1978)
4. Edem Kodjo of Togo (1978-1983)
5. Peter Onu of Nigeria (1983-1985)
6. Ide Omaru of Niger Republic (1985-1989)
7. Salim Ahmed Salim of Tanzania (1989-2001). He is the last Secretary-General of the defunct OAU. The newly formed African Union (AU) has Essy Amara as the Secretary-General.
