Albert Chinualumogu Achebe born on November 16 1930, was a Nigerian novelist, critic, poet, and professor. His first novel “Things Fall Apart” (1958) was considered as his magnum opus, and the most widely read book in modern African literature. He was raised by his parents in the Igbo town of Ogodi, southeastern Nigeria. Achebe excelled at school and won a scholarship for undergraduate studies. He gained nationwide attention for “Things Fall Apart” in the late 1950s, his other novels include, No Longer at Ease in 1960, Arrow of God in 1964, A Man of the People in 1966, and The Anthills of the Savannah in 1987. Chinua Achebe supported the Biafran independence when Biafra broke away from Nigeria in 1967, he also acted as the ambassador for the people of the new nation, the Republic of Biafra. He later died on the 21st of March 2013.achebe
